Attorney Andrew T. Richmond will be one of only 1,650 Fellows Nationwide
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Mahoney Richmond Thurston, PLLC, is proud to announce that Founding Attorney Andrew T. Richmond has been accepted into the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). As one of its fellows, Mr. Richmond can tout being a part of a group that promotes the highest degree of professionalism and excellence in the practice of family law.
Founded in 1962, AAML currently has more than 1650 Fellows in 50 states. Mr. Richmond will be only one of nine fellows in Hampton Roads.

Academy fellows are highly skilled negotiators and litigators who represent individuals in all facets of family law. Mr. Richmond passed AAML’s stringent standards for entry that included exclusive practice in the matrimonial field. Other criteria include belonging to the bar for a minimum of 10 years, competently handling complex matrimonial law litigation as lead counsel and passing the AAML exam National Matrimonial Law Exam.

Mr. Richmond adeptly resolves complex divorces involving the equitable distribution of complex assets, support and custody cases, through both contested litigation, negotiated agreements and the collaborative divorce process. Mr. Richmond was a Legal Elite Young Lawyer in 2012, 2014 and 2017 and 2014 and in 2015 in the Appellate Law category. He also has been on the Virginia Super Lawyers’ list 2018: Rising Stars five consecutive years, 2013-2017, and on the Best Lawyers® list for the first time in 2018. In 2014, he was named by Inside Business as one of the “Top Forty Under 40.” He has an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
